The “most craziest mushroom of the world”

… with this slogan, this Discosoma “Jawbreaker” made it through the reefing scene in Europe last week.

And, by the way, this species of mushroom is a very unique coral!

Beside some LPS reaching us in the last years with more spectaculare color morphes, in the last months more and more very colorful mushrooms are available for sale in Europe.

But: The color does not make them demanding better water parameters or makes it more difficult. Best, Discosoma are settled with low flow near the ground.

For the current nano-reef trend, this Jawbreakers are certainly a well addition – prices are at the moment between 50€ – 150€.

The trader, whitecorals.com says, that these Discosoma is very rare to get – understandably. Within 2 1/2 years, they only got a few of them and they are hand-picked by an export station in Tonga. This seems logical, because it is from Tonga lately many ultra-colored corals come to us.

Hopefully, some more of this ultra-mushrooms will find their way to european trade market!
